Private Music Tuition |
Gillie
Robson, LWCMD
- Qualified and experienced female tutor
offering piano, violin, harp, keyboard,
music theory, improvisation and sound creation
tuition. Over 25 years of musical experience
and over 10 years of teaching experience.
Based in Tref-y-Clawdd / Knighton, Powys,
Mid Wales.
All ages, styles
and levels welcome - from beginner to advanced.
A well rounded approach to all instrumental
tuition is taken, sacrificing neither the
technical nor the creative side. All students
are encouraged to improvise - solo and duo/group
work.

|
Students are taught in a manner
which embraces many genres of music so as
to gain a wider appreciation of the instrument
as a whole. More specialised subjects such
as prepared piano, improvising with the piano
as a whole, alternative and graphic scoring,
jazz chord notation and free improvisation
are all introduced in the course of tuition,
students may choose whether or not they wish
to study these areas further.

Harp |
Students may
need to hire a harp to begin with - if this
is anything other than a concert/pedal harp,
it may also be necessary for the student to
bring their harp to the lessons.

Violin |
Students are required to
bring their own violin to lessons. All students
will have the opportunity to experience duet
work - violin/violin, violin/piano (violin/harp
if desired!).
On a side note - I have a small range of chin
rests, pegs, fine tuners and a few violin
cases of various sizes for sale / exchange.

Theory of Music |
"At
least Learn the Rules before you Break Them"
All Instrumental
tuition will, and has to, involve the Theory
of Music to some extent.
Theory of Music tuition is available in group
or individual classes, private tuition or
online/remote learning,
and covers all levels, following the ABRSM
exams (exams may or may not be undertaken,
as individually required).

History of Music |
History of Music
is as important as it is interesting and I
would suggest that even those who have little
desire to become an instrumentalist or composer
take a wander through the ages.
'GCSE' Level and 'A' Level students requiring
help or extra tuition in Music Theory and
Music History are welcome.
Get more involved with your instrument - look
into the history of your particular instrument
- find out how your instrument came about,
who was the first composer to write something
for it? how has it evolved over the years?
why has it evolved? how does it work?!
